ABOUT ONCE UPON A POLE
It's like no fairy tale you've ever seen..."Once Upon a Pole" is a rock 'n' roll vertical dance experience inspired by classic fairytales woven into a comic commentary on modern relationships. Part cabaret, part musical, part rock concert, "Once Upon a Pole" uses high-flying, acrobatic POLE DANCE as a primary story-telling device with singers, dancers, aerialists and actors spinning an enchanting and spellbinding tale.
Having no formal acrobatic training and overcoming extraordinary childhood experiences, Timber Brown is a rare story of inspiration and hope. Not only is he one of the world’s most exciting pole artists – having showcased his talent around the world and on television as a contestant on America’s Got Talent - Timber also founded Anomalia Entertainment in order to send important messages of hope to the world and encourage others who would otherwise have none. His goal is to make Anomalia a recognized nonprofit organization that will allow him to help others in substantially more impactful ways.

MARLO FISKEN JOINS THE CAST OF "CATALYST"
Fresh off her first-place win at Aerial Pole International, Marlo Fisken has become one of the world's most beloved pole dancers. And for good reason. Her high-flying athleticism, extreme flexibility, feline grace, and unapologetic sensuality make her more than just a dancer; she is a phenomenon. A true blend of artist and athlete, Marlo is Vertical Theatre at its best.
A HISTORY OF KMVT
Past Kelly Maglia Vertical Theatre productions have opened to great acclaim at some of LA’s most legendary venues. Umbrella: A Pole Play – a one-act play with original music by Alex Williamson and in which lyrical pole dance pieces served to underscore the symbolic aspects of the story - opened in April 2010 at the Viper Room. Later that December, KMVT took on The Whisky a Go Go, as the closing act in PoleStars. Catalyst (presented in conjunction with Jagged Dance Company) played the El Portal Theatre July 8-9, 2011 – representing KMVT’s leap onto the "legit" theatre stage. Featuring pole superstar and contemporary dancer, Marlo Fisken, Catalyst blended ballet, contemporary dance, and pole in new and unprecedented ways. Here, dance was used first and foremost in service of STORY– as a cast of creatures both magical and bohemian took the stage to tell their catalytic tales. For the first time, KMVT also featured the talents of comedic actors Christopher Carver and Alecs Vildosola, whose clowning interludes further marked “Catalyst” as an innovative blend of pole, circus, rock concert, and theatre.
2012’s Once upon a Pole represented an even bigger leap for KMVT. At last, Maglia’s goal of producing a pole dance musical was fully realized. A full-length script was added to this mix of both original music (by Richard Dawson) and famous rock and roll & Broadway covers. This cutting-edge production also featured guest artist, the gravity-defying Timber Brown, whose astonishing acrobatics were a centerpiece for the show – which utilized a blend of classic fairy tales to weave a tale of modern romance.
KMVT is currently developing a new work that will further develop Kelly’s love of rock and pole!
